Question 1

Is the New Zealand traveller declaration free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The official declaration is free. Everyone who arrives completes one, including New Zealand citizens. Each person, including infants and children, completes their own. You can use the official online form or the official app.

Question 2

When can it be submitted?

Accepted Answer

At the earliest, 24 hours before departure. It must be in before you reach passport control in New Zealand. After you submit, you can still change it until you reach the border. A paper form is also available after arrival.

Question 3

What language are the answers in?

Accepted Answer

The answers have to be in English. Official explanations exist in more than one language. This site explains the task in your language and helps you prepare the English wording. You still submit the declaration yourself.

Question 4

What does guided completion include?

Accepted Answer

You answer in your language. You get an English answer sheet you can copy from, item by item, and download once the service is open. Before the 24-hour window, we remind you to submit. Ordering is not open on this site yet.

Question 5

Will someone submit the declaration for me?

Accepted Answer

No. You submit it yourself on the official form or in the official app. Filing it for you is not offered.

Question 6

Who decides what to declare?

Accepted Answer

You do. We do not pre-select answers and we do not answer for you. Declare what is true. A false declaration can lead to a fine.

Question 7

When is the fee refunded?

Accepted Answer

The amount is not set yet. The draft rule is: after the English answer sheet has been generated and can be downloaded, the fee is not refunded. If a fault on our side means the sheet cannot be generated, or the reminder is not delivered, the fee is refunded in full. A lawyer has not reviewed this.

Question 8

Are you a New Zealand government agency?

Accepted Answer

No. This is an independent private assistance service. It is not part of the New Zealand Government or Customs, and it does not decide whether you may enter.
